PAPERUS UAE PUBLIC BETA

Useful discovery begins with trust.

Paperus connects people around community-created showcases. A showcase is the promotional content a seller creates to present an item, service, role, event or opportunity. These plain-language standards explain how to participate safely and responsibly during the beta.

Public beta notice

Paperus is currently a UAE-focused public beta. Every eligible showcase receives the same considered presentation across all available categories. Beta seller terms may evolve, and any future pricing will be communicated clearly before a charge applies.

Beta features may change, contain defects or be temporarily unavailable. Connected accounts, showcases, photographs and community activity are synchronised across devices through protected Paperus services. For privacy, unfinished showcase details and photographs are not stored in browser storage. Harmless preferences such as language and recent views may remain on the current device.

Safety guidance

Verify before committing

Inspect what is offered, confirm identity or ownership where relevant, compare market information and use a communication, meeting and payment method you trust.

Protect private information

Never share passwords, one-time codes, card PINs or unnecessary financial documents. Paperus will never ask for a payment verification code through a showcase conversation.

Pause when something feels wrong

End the conversation if someone uses unusual pressure, avoids reasonable verification, requests payment outside an agreed method or makes unsupported claims. Report the showcase and contact Paperus if help is needed.

Showcase standards

  • Use a truthful title, description, category, price and UAE location.
  • Upload recent, accurate photos of what is actually offered.
  • Disclose material defects, restrictions, fees and important conditions.
  • Only present something you own, control or are authorised to offer.
  • Do not duplicate showcases, impersonate others or manipulate ratings and reactions.
  • Remove or pause a showcase when it is no longer available.

Permit standards

Every live showcase must include the applicable UAE permit authority, permit number and expiry date. Paperus checks whether the entered date is current and takes the showcase offline one day before expiry. A date check does not prove that a self-entered permit is authentic.

“Authority verified” is shown only after a trusted verification process confirms the permit with its issuing authority. Sellers remain responsible for choosing the correct authority and maintaining every licence, permit, QR code, approval and disclosure required for their activity and emirate.

Community features

Likes indicate interest, saved showcases are private to the user, ratings express an individual opinion, comments are visible within the showcase, follows shape a personal community feed and direct messages connect people around a showcase.

Engagement indicators reflect user activity. They are not verification or a guarantee. Use these features respectfully. Do not harass, spam, threaten, discriminate, share private information or coordinate false engagement. Paperus may remove content or limit accounts that damage community trust.

Prohibited content

Illegal goods or services, weapons, controlled substances, stolen property, counterfeit goods, sexual exploitation, hate content, personal data for sale, fraudulent offers, unsafe products and regulated items offered without required authorisation are prohibited.

Privacy notice

Effective 16 July 2026. Paperus operates the UAE beta at thepaperus.com and determines how personal data used by the marketplace is processed. Privacy questions and requests can be sent through the signed-in Privacy & Data dashboard or the Paperus support inbox below.

Information Paperus handles

This includes account and private contact details such as email and mobile number; profile details; authentication identifiers; showcase content, photographs and permits; saved items and community activity; enquiries and messages; reports and safety records; consent and privacy requests; and limited security data such as timestamps, device or network indicators and rate-limit hashes. Passwords are handled by the authentication service and are never stored in Paperus marketplace tables. Do not submit identity documents, health information, payment credentials or confidential business information unless Paperus specifically requests them through an approved secure process.

Why it is used

Paperus uses personal data to create and secure accounts, create and manage showcases, deliver enquiry conversations, provide requested marketplace features, prevent spam and fraud, enforce standards, respond to rights requests, maintain records required by law and improve service reliability. Processing is based, as applicable, on consent, steps requested before or during a service relationship, legal obligations, protection of rights and carefully assessed legitimate operational and security interests. Marketing is separate and requires the relevant choice where consent is required.

Sharing, processors and transfers

Data is shared only with service providers needed for hosting, database, authentication, storage, security, communications, analytics and customer support; with a listing host or requester when they choose to communicate; with connected systems explicitly enabled by a user or company; and with authorities or professional advisers where lawfully required. Optional video remains with its original host and is loaded through a privacy-enhanced viewer. Some providers may process data outside the UAE. Paperus must use an approved transfer mechanism and appropriate contractual and security safeguards before enabling such processing.

Retention

Standard marketplace enquiries and their message bodies expire no later than 90 days after creation unless a shorter period applies or an active legal hold is required. Private-desk product enquiries used for manual seller introductions do not expire automatically and remain available to Paperus until manually deleted or the associated account is removed, subject to rights requests and any lawful retention requirement. A controlled deletion process removes expired standard enquiry records and records only non-personal deletion counts and timestamps. Account and showcase information remains while the account or service requires it, then is deleted or anonymised under the applicable retention schedule. Security, fraud, transaction and legal records may be kept longer where a documented lawful requirement applies. Backups follow a separate expiry cycle and deleted data must not be restored into active use.

Device storage and security

Paperus does not mirror profiles, private listings, enquiries, messages or notifications into browser local storage. Harmless preferences may remain on the device. Paperus uses access controls, row-level database policies, encrypted transport, protected storage links, rate limits, audit records and restricted server functions. No online service can promise absolute security; report a suspected incident through the support route below.

Your choices and rights

Subject to applicable UAE law, a person may request information and access, correction, restriction or stopping of processing, portability, deletion, withdrawal of consent, or an objection to certain automated processing. Paperus will verify identity before acting and may retain limited information where law, fraud prevention or legal claims require it. Signed-in users can submit these requests from Privacy & Data in the dashboard. A person may also contact the support inbox and may raise a complaint with the competent UAE authority.

Children and automated decisions

Paperus is not intended for children to create accounts or create showcases without a lawful guardian-supported process. Paperus may use automated signals to detect spam, scams or unsafe activity, but a significant adverse account decision should remain reviewable by a person. Paperus does not sell personal data.

Changes

Material changes will be dated and communicated through the service where appropriate. The official UAE framework includes Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 concerning the Protection of Personal Data.

Platform terms

Sellers are responsible for the accuracy, legality and availability of their showcases. Buyers are responsible for evaluating an offer and making an informed decision. Paperus provides the discovery and communication platform but is not the buyer, seller, agent, employer, service provider or party to a transaction unless explicitly stated.

Ratings, likes and comments are community signals, not guarantees. Paperus does not guarantee placement, reach, enquiries, sales, rentals, employment or any other result.
